ConnectID and Digital Identity Data
1. We participate in a digital identity network, ConnectID, which allows you to request that organizations with which you have an established relationship (Identity Providers) share identity and attribute information (collectively referred to as Identity Data) with us. This process aims to streamline our interactions with you. Identity Data may include information such as your name, telephone number, email address, date of birth, and residential address.
2. The “ConnectID Network” facilitates the bilateral transfer of Identity Data between us and the respective Identity Provider (referred to as a Digital Identity Transaction). It is important to note that the ConnectID Operator neither accesses nor stores your Identity Data. The transfer of Identity Data occurs directly between the Identity Provider and us.
3. Digital Identity Transactions are conducted solely at your discretion and with your explicit consent. Identity Data will only be provided by the Identity Provider selected by you, and only with your authorization. If you choose not to provide consent, the Digital Identity Transaction will not proceed. In such cases, we will offer an alternative method for you to share your Identity Data or complete identity verification outside of the ConnectID network.
4. Each Digital Identity Transaction is a one-time transfer of Identity Data. Subsequent transfers, including repeated transactions with the same Identity Provider, will require your renewed consent and the initiation of a new Digital Identity Transaction.
By consenting to the transfer of Identity Data from an Identity Provider to us, you acknowledge and agree to the following:
- We may collect, use, and disclose the Identity Data as specified in your consent as part of the Digital Identity Transaction. This includes secondary purposes authorized by you or as permitted under applicable privacy laws, our agreements with you, and our Privacy Policy.
- Once transferred, the Identity Provider will no longer have control or responsibility for the security or management of the Identity Data. Our handling of the data will be governed by our agreements and Privacy Policy, not those of the Identity Provider.
- In the event of a security or data incident impacting your Identity Data, you authorize us to inform the Identity Provider about the incident, including details of your Personal Information and the Identity Data involved. The Identity Provider may use this information to mitigate or respond to cybersecurity threats, fraud, scams, or identity theft.
- Neither we nor the ConnectID Operator endorse or provide guarantees regarding any Identity Provider, including their security or privacy practices.
- Both we and the ConnectID Operator disclaim liability to the fullest extent permitted by law for any actions or omissions of the Identity Provider.
- The disclaimers related to the ConnectID Operator are held in trust by us on behalf of the ConnectID Operator. This means that, while the ConnectID Operator is not a party to these terms, it is entitled to rely on your acknowledgment and acceptance of these disclaimers.
- You may request access to, or correction of, your Personal Information held by us by contacting us.
Children’s Privacy
We do not intentionally collect personally identifiable information from children under the age of thirteen. If we become aware that we have collected personally identifiable information from a user of the Site who is under the age of thirteen, we will remove that child’s personal information from our files.
Users Outside of Australia
As a company with offices and partners around the world, your personal information may be processed outside the country where you are located. When you submit personal information to us you agree to the information being processed in other countries, including for example outside the European Economic Area (“EEA”). Countries that we transfer your information to may not have data protection laws similar to those of where you are located.
If you are a resident of the EEA or Switzerland, the following information applies with respect to personal data collected through your interactions with us.
We process personal data consistent with our disclosures in this Privacy Policy. We process personal data on the following legal bases: (1) with your consent; (2) as necessary to perform our agreement to provide our services to you; and (3) as necessary for our legitimate interests in providing our services to you where those interests do not override your fundamental rights and freedoms related to data privacy.
Personal data we collect may be transferred to, and stored and processed in, Australia or any other country in which we or our affiliates or processors maintain facilities. We will ensure that transfers of personal data to a third country or an international organisation are subject to appropriate safeguards.
You are entitled to the rights under Chapter III of the EU General Data Protection Regulation or Section 2 of the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection with respect to the processing of your personal data, which include the right to access and rectify and to request erasure of personal data.
