70th anniversary_

From pressure cookers to frying pans.

In 2026, SCANPAN celebrates its 70th anniversary. Since 1956, we have been recognised as an internationally acclaimed manufacturer of uncompromising cookware and kitchen accessories for all types of kitchens – rooted in Danish craftsmanship, functionality, and innovation.

70 years after our first pressure-cast frying pan, we mark the occasion with selected anniversary products offered at a fixed, attractive price throughout the year.

The history of SCANPAN

Timeline

Much has happened since 1956, when—almost by chance—the world’s first pressure-cast pan was created. Inventor and entrepreneur G.A.L. Thorsen was in the process of developing a pressure cooker. The project was eventually abandoned, but the lid originally intended for the pressure cooker became the foundation for a frying pan.

In 1976, our current factory in Ryomgaard opened, where experiments began with polishing using beeswax to achieve a glossy surface—marking the first step towards what would later become our well-known non-stick coating.

In 2002, we changed our name from Pyrolux to SCANPAN.

2017 marked the introduction of our Stratanium® coating, followed just one year later by the launch of Stratanium+.

2026 marks not only our 70th anniversary, but also the year in which—after many years of development—we can present our latest coating, Stratanium Leap, produced without PFAS
